Chrome Pieces You Can get Put on During Serice With No Labor Charge?
well I've had my bike about 2 weeks (2007 Road King) ... I've had to pull back the reins on my riding the past couple of days to ensure that I get other commitments taken care of (namely school ... hard to do while working full time) .... anyway, I've got 836 miles on her now and went ahead and scheduled my 1000 mile service for next Wednesday....that will give me the weekend to ride a little and I can drop it off Tuesday when the dealer opens and should have it back Wednesday afternoon at the latest.
I was thumbing through the manual trying to find things that have to be taken off for service at various intervals so that I can go ahead and have the chrome piece installed at that time and save the labor cost.
example: 1000 mile service, derby cover has to be removed ... got the new one today and they will put it on during the 1000 mile service.
any other parts that can be swapped like this as I hit differant service intervals that might potentially save me a few bucks labor installation?

you could put the derby, and just about anything but a chrome inner primary yourself with basic hand tools. Make sure you get a torx 27 bit though.
do it yourself!!!!!
Order parts from Zanotti and save some real money.

Get a Torx T-20 for the timer cover, that needs replacing real bad!
Do you like the heel shifter? Good a time as any to kiss it goodbye.

I hate that thing! Very awkward to use....I've tried to get a feel for it, but I can't seem to get used to it
yeah I know the derby cover is pretty easy to replace.....just as soon let them do it as they will be removing the old one any way
the tech told me the timer cover was pretty eay to put on....just for looks anyway

Yea you can bolt or glue on lots fo stuff yourself, while it may be tempting to let them do it you will learn more about your bike doing it yourself, plus its not yours till you bleed on it (Rear header bolts anyone? LOL)
