Installed a set of RCX Components slip on mufflers on my bike and they sound mild while riding. but when i stand behind the bike even at idle they sound alot louder! They have a deeper tone tho then what im normally use to. I think the bags do alot blocking the sound for the rider up front on touring models.

I never had "pipe envy" ... I hear my pipes whenever I go thru an underpass, and am glad I quieted them down.

Maybe it's the scavenger oil change method making the pipes sound better?

I live on a fairly busy street. The other day, as I was working in my yard, I paused to see a Harley passing by. The pipes sounded great. Surprisingly, they were stock. I think stock pipes have a nice sound after they wear in over the years.

Oh I have a story for you guys. A buddy and I are stopped in a pull off up in the mountains when two tour bikes pull in with very loud pipes. He looks at me and says, never do that to your bike, says the man with the 2002 Intruder with straight pipes.
