Default Clutch adjustment or transmission issue

Just got back from a 500 mile ride on my 2010 Road King and noticed on the way home a issue... when upshifting up fro 4th to 5th... it wouldn't engage 5th gear right away. It would if I let off the throttle for a couple seconds. But made it home with no other issues.

Now this morning, it was really bad. It was doing it in 1-4 and sometimes not engaging at all (reverting to the last gear). No odd nosies or grinding. Made it back home and parked it.

Recent work done, all 3 fluids changes (1500 miles ago) and a buddy adjusted my clutch lever (not the pack, just the line).

Can't get it in for a week or more for service, but was wondering if anyone seen this before. Thanks

Start here. Adjust the clutch at the hub and then the cable.

.....by the book! In other words slacken off the cable, adjust at the clutch, then re-adjust the cable.

I'd start over from scratch and do a proper clutch adjustment first. Unfortunately up shifting through the gears really doesn't even require the use of the clutch to be done smoothly so it may be in the transmission.

If your friend adjusted the clutch when the motor was hot, probably not correct, should be done cold as per the manual.

I am not Sherlock Holmes...but if your issues began after your buddy adjusted the cable...I think it's the cable.

Thanks for the replies. My buddy made the adjustment when cold and it was fine for 500-600 miles. But either way, looks like a good place to start before I take it in. I'll adjust it correctly and hope it isn't fried.

what fluid did you put in the primary? something with moly? i hope not. it would make the clutch slip.
