Default Clutch adjustment

I have adjusted and re-adjusted my clutch several times, I keep getting the little bit of clunk between the gears. I had my compensator replaced about a year ago. The mechanic adjusted it perfect. It shifted like butter. I can't seem to get that again. What am I doing wrong ? Thanks

Adjust the cable length to a "thick nickel" of free play at the perch. Sounds like you're not getting completely disengaged.

No, at the lever where it hinges. A thick nickel between the lever and the casting. The cable adjustment is on the down tube near the front cylinder.
