Default What do you do to Clean Chrome ?

So how do you take care of your Chrome, do you polish it with something, do you just use a soft cloth and windex? What are some tips and trick on the best way to do this? And what do you use to do it?

Windex or Glass Plus w/o Amonia works well.

Wash every other month or so.

Windex and microfiber cloth every couple of rides.

Mothers billet cleaner on any chrome the windex won't clean-up.

You can't polish chrome, nor can you "buff out" scratches. I use Windex most of the time, but if it has more than a bit of grease or oil on it I use naphtha (VM&P, Coleman Lantern Fuel, etc.). Naphtha works well as a cleaner, but evaporates rapidly, so you must work fast. Aluminum polishes work okay on chrome, if it is listed as acceptable, but are harder to apply and too much rubbing may damage the chrome. Don't use anything abrasive like scratch remover, rubbing compound, or paint polishes on chrome.

I sometimes use wax (or more accurately paint protectant/sealant) on chrome and never heard before this that there might be a problem. I would think it is overkill, however, as chrome doesn't need protection from oxidation like paint does. Wax on chrome surfaces in the line of fire (like forks, headlight trim rings, etc.) might make bug removal easier, although that's just an untested idea.

I was starting to think that maybe I was missing something. Some of the photos that I have seen of some of the bikes on here the chrome looks really good. I thought that maybe someone had something special that they did.
