LDrider,

This doesn't make sense to me. The Roadking Custom, the RK Classic, and the RoadGlide do not have the rear bumper. They all share the same frame, mufflers, struts, etc. as the other ElectraGlides. Are they prone to fail, or do they have this hidden brace?

If the brace is all it takes to git rid of the bumper without weakening the system, then I will head down to the HD Shop and order the hidden brace.

Regards,

Bill

I would like to know as well, I removed my rear bumper a while ago.

I went out and checked the bike, and put the rear bumper back on. I found that the muffler support/fender strut brackets had spread, and I had to pull them back together to get the bracket holes to line up. I am sure in time that there would have been a failure.

I called the HD shop and found that I could get the bracket brace to replace the rubber bumper for 41.00 so I ordered it. This is the one that is used on the RK Custom and the Street Glide.

LDrider, thanks for the heads up. This forum is such a wealth of information, and guys like you make it so.

Regards,

Bill

No problem Bill. I agree with you on the value of a forum such as this where we can all learn from each others experiences and get ideas from what others have tried.

bill,
the screamin eagle eglides and the street glide have hidden braces, its a brace that runs inside the rear fender, pretty sure the road glides do as well.

Anyone have a part # for this hidden bracket, or even a picture of it, on or off the bike? That would be really helpful.

Ted,

I should have one in about a week. I just ordered it so I can take that rubber thing off again.

I'll post a pic when it comes in.

Regards,

Bill

They have a nice looking insert that goes in place of that rubber.

Thanks Mark, I looked at the inserts and I like. Ed
