I was pretty sure you got valves from me but its hard to keep track. No harm in checking everything out, that's what I did too. Any chance he explained how too much preload would cause a clunk? The linear preload measurement is what the spring manufacturers provide as the compressed point where the springs need to be to perform at their advertised rate, but even that has to be adjusted a little +/- to accommodate the specific application. Brian may have offered an explanation, but its not in my notes. He did say that an alternative would be to decrease the oil volume.
