'06 Road Glide impressions
12 days 1119 miles.
1. Kat (wife) or Brittany (granddaughter) want to jump on the back every time I start her up, hence very little one up riding.
2. I am not afraid of the Interstate anymore; I still do not care to use them except when really necessary but I do so with out fear.
3. Riding for a long time causes my knees to ach and putting my feet on the highway pegs attached to the engine guard is a stretch (short legs). So I positioned the highway pegs so that my toe rests on the peg and my heel sits on the floorboard. This just about duplicates the position on the Dyna with forward pegs (very comfortable).
4. Because of congenital defect, I have trouble with downshifting. I found and ordered a longer extension for the front shift lever.
5. Up shifting with the heel shifter is a God send.
6. Saddlebags don’t really hold much stuff so I bought a canvas touring bag that fits the luggage rack on the back of the passenger backrest. Holds more and costs less than a Tour Pac.
7. At the 1000 mile service the dealer found the SE blue rubber air cleaner to be shredded. Not the cleaner itself but the inner portion of the sealing surface. They replaced it without too much grousing. I have a Ness Big Sucker that I will install this weakend.
8. Had Syn3 put in at the 1000 mile service, I plan to change to Mobil 1 at 2500 miles. Any further service will be done by me or at the local indy shop.
9. Saw a Street Glide at the dealer today and I really like the lowered look. Memo to Self: Self, start saving your shekels for front and rear lowering kits.
10. The HK advanced system radio has provisions for a GP module, but the module won’t be ready for another “few months.”
11. Of the Harleys that I have spent any time on (more than a day such as Dyna Low Rider, EG Ultra, Heritage Softtail, and Road Glide), the Road Glide comes out on top by a bunch with the Low Rider in second place.

Tripper:
I would agree with you on the Road Glide. I love it and think it's one of HD's best kept secrets. I like the lowering idea. Had mine lowered. I was on the freeway at 80 MPH and it "GLIDED" without any shred of vibration. Loved it.
Thank you for your post.

RE: '06 Road Glide impressions
Tripper,
I have my highway pegs mounted exactly like yours (heel on floorboard and toe on peg). This is the most comfortable position I have found. I also put the short angle brackets on mine to move them closer to me (short legs). As you know I have lowered my roadglide 1 1/4" front and back. I love it low!!!!
