I had to beat mine pretty hard to get it out. I think the factory should be using anti seize or something on the axel.

Cause is most likely someone neglected to put anti-seize on the axle last time it was removed. If it is a newer model bike, probable cause is the manufacturer neglected to put it on, which is fairly common.

I pulled the wheels on my 14 the other day and was suprised to find both axles with a good coating of anti seize - came right out.

PB Blaster, let it soak and then add a little more. It has worked for me on stuff that had corroded in place. Another option is heat.

Seems about normal. Don't know about the new ones but my 2010 was well seized in from new. Mech at the dealer got it out but the sounds of hammering would make you weep ! Fortunately I was replacing the wheels with some Street Glide ones or It would have needed new bearings after the beating. Bike was 2.5yrs old at this point. Mech says they are fed up feeding back to Harley that they need to grease the axles at the factory, but they reckon they don't like the potential for grease contamination on the production lines so I guess the dealer should grease them at PDI if they know this! Or is that unreasonable? Anyway all greased now. Worth checking , especially if you don't do many miles a year, could be well seized in by new tyre time .

Mine was hard to get out of my 2012 also. They put little to no anti seize on at the factory. I had to beat it out.

That's ridiculous, how much would a little anti seize cost Harley.
Sometimes I think they make the bikes hard to work on so you will
take them to the dealer..
