I had the Hayden and didn't like how tight the chain was. I also had hard starting and a compensator knock while starting and shutting off. I installed the Baker manual adjuster with 3/4 inch of chain flex and all my issues went away. I checked the shoe after 1000 miles and there was no wear.

I use the Baker chain adjuster with my R&R 124 and it's perfect.

The noise I heard when the chain got over tight with the stock adjuster was loud. The Hayden is tight, but not as tight as the stock adjuster got on me. Noise from the case with Hayden installed is audible, but not as bad as the over tight stock adjuster. Hayden says give it 500 miles to wear in. I'm gonna do that and report back. So far it's better.

I never had an issue with my auto adjuster. If your concerned the baker manual adjuster is the best choice.

A few of the guys with big H.P. are taking the OEM adjuster and setting the chain at 5/8 play and welding the wedges in place. working well and if needed to readjust, grind welds off and reweld in position needed.

I don't have big HP but saved my stock tensioner in case I have an issue with the baker I'm running and will do just that. Actually may try and bribe you to do it.

I don't like the chain slap and noise from the tension of the Hayden. Just ordered a baker unit. Should be installed next week.

Same with me and Hayden was of no help for me as for customer service. I have a Thread on here that has pics of it, do a Search.
