Detachable Tour pak Lock...useless???

Look at part #3 in the PDF for just the detachable rack. These are the pivot pins that keep the locks from flopping around without the screw. If you don't have these there is a problem with the rack.

Thank you very much. You are correct. I was thinking that pin would slide out the back of the rack but it is stationary. I knew I had to be missing something.

Another little tip, put some lithium grease or something like it on the back two docking points. Makes it WAY easier to get the latches off.

the "key" is to make it obvious to a thief that'll it'll take longer...and they'll move on to an easier mark.
I will run a cable type lock through the T/P mount and any bags ( like T bag) when touring.
I ran into a rider at a gas station who, while he was inside paying, had all his bags taken from his bike.
he was waiting for the cops to show up.
