Default Isolated Drive System

Does any one know if the IDS offered as an upgrade for the 07 models have any wear limits ( spec ) ? Do the shoes wear or not and how many miles if they do . I have it on my FLHRC and just replaced my compensator at 60k and was wondering ?

Unless I missed something somewhere, the compensator is on the engine crank shaft and the IDS is for the rear pulley. There is a wear limit for the IDS, something like 1/4 inch of pulley movement at the outside edge without moving the wheel. Recommend you try Google for the specific tolerance as the 1/4 inch is just from memory. The free pulley movement on my 08 King never seemed to change but when I replaced the 66 tooth pulley with a 68 tooth pulley I also replaced the pads. There was NO pulley movement with the new pads so that tightened things up a bit. Also from memory, there are 6 pads at about $6 each. The pulley just lifts, or falls off the wheel, there is no mounting for the pulley. It is held in pace by the spacers which set left/right wheel location in the swing arm. The "can" which holds the cushions is solidly mounted to the wheel but that doesn't have to be changed unless damaged.

.400(10.2mm) is the maximum allowed measurement between the two marks that you make during the wear check as outlined in M1256 service bulletin.

Thanks for the input . The reason I thought about it was the IDS acts like a compensator on the rear . Maybe part of the noise and chatter could be linked to the IDS??
