I doubt the only difference is the clear coat. If you want denim, just scuff paint & primer. That's what denim looks like to me, primer. Good luck.

No, what makes black a 'denim' is the flat or matte clear coat. By applying a high gloss clear coat to the same black (raw black), you make it 'Vivid'. If I learned anything from all the threads I've read is that fact.
