Floorboard Extenders (VTwin Goodies) Positive Experience
A few months ago, after reading a thread on here about floorboard extenders from Harley Goodies (now called VTwin Goodies, due to trademark issues), I ordered a set. Finally got to install them today. I got the driver's extenders, which say they move the floorboards OUT (away from the frame) about 7/8" each. The directions were good enough (although they didn't say what size hex wrench to use... I figured it out) and the install went without a hitch.
First test ride of about an hour and the difference is subtle. But positive. I can't say it was a radical new riding posture for me, because it wasn't. But I did find that I was riding flat-footed on the boards, whereas I think I normally rode on the outside edge of the boards. I was also able to keep my upper legs a little tighter in (prob because the soles of my feet weren't angle on the edge of the boards~). And so I found it a more pleasant ride on the boards, perhaps even a little easier to control with these extenders.
Another positive: I DON'T seem to get my feet hung up anywhere (backside or outside of pedals) when trying to shift or brake. That was something I was curious about. Happy to report, no issues.
BTW, I'm 6", 32" inseam, on a stock height 2007 RK Custom (which is about an inch or so lower than other RK's of that era). No rubbing on the boards on corners (yet), either.
So this is a positive review on VTwin Goodies' floorboard extenders. Exactly as advertised and an improvement to my ride. Also, very responsive and shipped quickly on order.
Now I'll have to ask my backseat mate about her foot position, as I might want to add these on the passenger boards, too!

Don't get me wrong, I DO like them. It's a subtle, but really nice, change in posture. As for moving the shift lever, I see what you mean. But I like having my foot clear of it while riding, so I don't have to slide it out from under in order to down shift. But, to each his own!
And yeah - I'm going to have to remember to take off all my mods whenever I sell/trade! lol
