Default Bad Dad 4.5 stretched bags with stock fender

I have a 2013 FLHX and have a chance to get a set of 4.5" stretched Bad Dad bags for a real good price. I was wondering if anyone has put on stretched bags and kept there stock fender? If anyone has or has any pics with that setup please let me know

You can probably find pics on Google. I had one, but deleted it. I thought about doing the same thing when I got my bags, but decided it might look unfinished without a fender too. Hated the thought of spending up to $1200 for a rear fender, and then I found this outfit called Gator Boxes. They have fender covers. Goes right over the stock fender. Look at my pic. It was $375, and the stock fender's still on the bike. Needs to be painted.

For some reason I can't find a pic after I had bags painted. I had to space out my expenditures, so rode all last year with extended bags & stock rear fender.

Here are before and after, and it did not look that bad once the fender was painted.

You can find a handful of pics by googling, and I think color plays into how it looks, i.e. black bike & black pipes will hid the cut outs not lining up perfectly.

I think it would look weird with 4.5" bags and stock fender. It wouldn't look "finished", you know? I went with CVO bags which are 3" longer than stock in the rear, and on my bike, I think its about borderline. Pitbull's bike looks BADASS and finished with that rear fender. Nice scoot!!

Look at the pic and mentally add another 1.5" to the bags. It may be too much. Just my opinion. Good luck!

Thanks for the shout RaceFace.

aaa1988, the other detail to consider is getting as much painted at a time as you can. You'll get a better price & won't risk color variances.

Hey Raceface, I agree that the extended bags may look a little funny on that style rear fender but I have a 2013 flhx that has the extended fender with tri bar light like the one Pitbull has in his first photo.

I found a pic in an old post from pitbull which showed his bike with stock fender and extended bags. The bike had RI plates not sure if it was his bike or just a pic he had. I think it looked good. I agree that the bags with fender looks really good I may just wait till winter to do everything at once.http://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j...04746976388899

You're right. It does look better with the tri bar setup. That comes down a lot further than my RKC setup does. I'm sure which ever way you go, it's going to look sick!! Lay some pic on us when you get it going!!

The pic you are referencing was a Road Glide I found when researching the same thoughts you are. It made me comfortable with my decision.

Those are VTwin bag bottoms. They didn't require much prep at all for paint, are nice and straight and a FRACTION of what HD wants! Thanks for the compliment!
