The stock tire on my 05 Ultra is 140MM. Has anyone had experience with putting a larger tire on the rear without major modifications?

 

i do believe there is some lee-way there on tire size, however i am riding on my stock tires. i thought mine are 170mm in the rear tho, ill have to look this eve.

 

I questiond the stealer about this and on my std, he said the rear is offset a bit and that everyone is different. He said that each bike can be slighlty different. I was skeptical, but sure enough i had about 1/4 to 3/8 clearnace on the drive side of the tire and easily 3 times that on the other side to the fender. So, I went with the std ( 140) tire to avoid any issues. I asked the same question weeks ago and really didnt get any answers on that. Got steered toward a few good online tire sources with good deals though.

I'm bringing the bike in for a 5k mile check this Friday. I'll inquire about sizing up on the rear tire. I know mine is 130MM and I would like to go larger. I'll let you know what the outcome is.

 

I'm pretty sure you can go 160 if you shave the belt cover. I have a 150 and there is some room there.
