Default Road king or Street Glide?

Ok! I am now ready for an upgrade to a touring. I am torn between these two. Any input helps.

If I were to ever get rid of my dyna for a touring bike I would only consider a road king. I'm just don't care for all the fiberglass and love the mean look of the road king

I had the same problem and went with the Road King last month. No regrets. I test rode both for twenty minutes each. I'm not crazy about fairings and could feel it's weight on the handlebars. It blocked a lot of my view, I'm 5'8". I like to see the road in from of me. I do not need music or navigation. YMMV so ride them both and buy what you like.

Road King, you can always add a detachable fairing later.

Default King/Glide

A lot depends on the kind of riding you prefer.
I was also 5'8" when I was younger, and I've driven/ridden enough miles to know where my front wheel is.
But even though I ride every possible day even if it's just to the gym, my preference is for long distance - like from home in Vancouver Canada to SoCal where I have offspring. So, for me, I prefer a bit more of a fairing and streamlining, a large tour pack and saddle bags.
But, we are all different. Rent one and try it out. Rent the other one and try it out.

Precisely my experience and viewpoint.

Also consider the extra amount of front tire sidewall on the RK as it will absolutely make a difference in ride smoothness for longer trips especially over less than ideal road conditions.

Ditto that. Road King is a great bike and the most versatile HD makes. I do however like the infotainment center of the SGS and the new styled hardbags are the bees knees IMO.

I got a street glide because I love listening to music when I ride, and I HATED fumbling with headphones/ipods/phones while on the go. The road king is unquestionably versatile. It looks great with or without a
Windshield, and you can add a fairing,or lowers, or switch from hard to soft bags. It's a hell of a machine, my next bike may just be one
