Default Removing brake rotors

Reading other threads on this I've learned a few things:
1. Get a Snap-on T-40 socket
2. Use heat
3. Penetrating oil
4. Replace the bolts
I'm pretty unclear on the heating part. New rotors are going on, so I'm not worried about hurting them, so do I just hold a torch on the bolt head for a while? Do I let it cool before attempting to apply the pressure? Should I perhaps drill a pilot hole in each bolt first?
Or am I better off getting a real shop to remove them?

heat to break the lock tight , heat the bolt head , hot but you don't have to get it red hot, should come out fairly easily when the loctite melts. would. I think an impact gun might help vs a breaker bar , but that more of an opinion, apply the heat and try tp loosen the bolt it if it doesn't break loose try a little more heat before using enough force to round out bolts.

The rotor bolts on the front wheel aren't bad at all to break loose but the rear wheel is another story! I got a 1/2 drive torx 45, breaker bar, and a 2ft. Long cheater pipe to break them loose. I loosened mine while still on the bike.

why destroy the rotors unless they are shot? try it withoutvheat etc. I've not seen that necessary and at 100 plus I'd save them. I have a spare set of rims and would love to have rotors for them. just can't see paying that much for them.

just need to heat them enough to melt the locktite and then they should break free easier.

And when all else fails and if you strip the bolt out, weld hex head bolt onto it and off it comes.

Never had an issue using a Craftsman T-40 and a squirt of PB Blaster.

I just use a harbor freight breaker bar and Kobalt T40 on the rear and the front just a standard ratchet, never needed heat and the entire bike only takes about 45 mins to complete.
