Nope.

That's a stock Revolution versus a stock TC103. The Revo's got a pretty flat torque line, and that could easily be raised via a cam change and/or adding displacement. Remember that the Revo's got 34 cubic inches less displacement than a TC.

The numbers at 2500-3500 RPM are the important ones, which is where your cruising is going too be.

Engines need to cruise at or near max torque, which is when they are at their greatest efficiency and fuel economy.

The Vrod is a good little engine but it is not designed to go in a tourer in its present form. The graphs clearly demonstrate that.

harley needs to take the existing 103 twin-cooled motor and slap full water-cooled heads on it. water-cooling would allow higher compression, stronger cams, better flowing heads, and what ever else was required to get 100 horsepower out of a stock motor. add quality suspension components, and make the bike similar to a goldwing in performance and handling. hopefully, this is where the moco goes with the road glide when it comes back.

I take it you've never adjusted shimmed valves before. It's really not difficult.

With the TC's gearing, sure. Not every bike cruises at the same RPM. The Revo redlines just shy of 9,000 RPM, no reason it can't cruise higher than the TC.

You're joking, right? Look at any automotive dyno sheet, be it from a Mustang or a Camry.

You really believe that the Mustang is turning 4,250 RPM at 60mph?

No kidding, which is why I said it needed a different cam. But it absolutely was initially designed to be put in a full range of motorcycles including a Touring bike.

I've ridden a V-rod and it does have a nice amount of power, but I have to disagree on the sound even with an aftermarket exhaust.

Don't forget to add a 12 gallon fuel tank to that touring model. I had a muscle a few years back and it was 100 miles and the fuel light was on.
Great motor and I agree it sounded wicked but needing gas 100 miles ahead of everyone else sucked.

It was initially designed as a race engine in the VR-1000

Never owned one huh?.....One hole oil change, hydralic clutch (no adjusting).....Motor is pretty much bullet proof....Valves, depends on how many miles you ride....Some people will never have to have them adjusted.....Yes, I owned one and sorry I sold it. Should have kept it for a second play bike...

My buddy just traded his vrod for a limited, he couldn't believe the v-twin was getting 40-45 miles per gallon on the big bike. He said his small vrod was only getting 35 at the most.
