Default is there any advantage to exhaust-wrap under heat shields?

friend of mine recently brought his FLHX over to show off, and i noticed most of his exhaust has been wrapped UNDER the heat shields, does this help reduce rattling or heat?

it could reduce heat experienced by the rider, maybe

the concept of a wrap is to insulate the headers- hot exhaust gasses have a higher velocity through the exhaust tract, which is good for power.
if exhaust gasses cool, they contract and will slow.

same concept behind ceramic ( or other) header coatings.

wrap has a few downsides, it can look like crap- it can hold moisture to teh headers and rust can result

cause your headers to rot out.
