Yesterday my buddy's '05 injected Road King started shutting off when he came to a stop and the check engine light would come on. It would start right back up and run and the check engine light would go off. Then while riding, it would shut off for a few seconds and then start running again. When it did this, his speedometer would go to zero and the check engine light would come on until it started running again.

This morning we checked for codes and there were none and the bike starts and runs fine. We're about to go ride and see if it does it again. I haven't checked the battery connections but the bike starts up fine.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?

 

my 2000 no FI is doing similar (his seems to be worse) -- I have not had a chance to investigate

 

Found the problem. It was loose (finger tight) battery connections.
