Im planning to take my street glide from Colorado Springs up to Aspen Sunday morning. Weather is looking clear but in the higher areas looks like it might be around 39-55 degrees give or take. Am I crazy for riding in that cold or is it not that bad? Planning to have full gear on, gloves, insulated riding pants and jacket, baklava, long johns.
Any other recommendations or am I over thinking it?

I'd wear a balaclava instead of baklava. Baklava may work if you are hungry though...

another thing that you might consider is an electric liner. have to carry less that way. i use one between 30 degrees and 50 degrees. sometimes don't need it but just a quick twist and you're warm. don't even have to run it all the time, just when you are chilly
best investment to cold weather riding I have made, just regret waiting so long to buy them. I have the gloves as well. have ridden colder than -10* celcius (around 15*f) with no problems

If you have a windscreen, you are already half-way there… and with lowers… Miami Beach brother !!
However; if not (or additionally) what gets cold for me are my thumbs, toes, and upper part of my legs…and if I am getting too cold.. my fingers and face (mumble when I speak). Water resistant winter gloves with a large cuff to fit over the sleeves of your jacket, everything else has been covered that I see…. except….. fog… and both types. Riding thru and looking thru. Both are quietly dangerous… how? Experience my friend; experience. Good Luck and have fun!! P.S. Your eyes will want to get watery and your nose might run… so for winter riding I use a helmet like the Bell 500 with a windshield, allowing me to wipe my nose and clear my eyes…(I use my neck scarf for that…).. and spit or snot rockets when necessary…

I ride in 20* weather with my leathers & full helmet with a full shield, gloves, a leather neck protector (covers from my nose down my neck). I do have a heated vest & gloves but have found that for me (when my fingers go numb, they get cold quick) they are too tight & my fingers go numb quicker. I am Colorado Springs. If you want to borrow my vest & gloves, you can.
