Default clutch slipping

I have a 97 Road King EFI. Recently I noticed my clutch slipping when I got on the throttle at a light. Do you think I can just replace the clutch plates and be good with that or buy and entire clutch kit? The difference is about 400$. Please help me with this if you can. Thanks

I'd try adjusting it first. But, if you're set on a new clutch do the guts and maybe a new spring seeing the age of your bike.

First, did you try adjusting the clutch? Second, if you do need to replace, check for specs per the manual to see if you need to replace the discs. Probably don't need a whole new clutch.

I had this happen to me on a previous bike. In my case, it would slip for the first few miles if I got on it hard until things heated up some. Ended up being the clutch spring. After warming up, it would expand just enough to let the clutch grab good.

Anybody who can diagnose a clutch problem over the internet has damn sure got my vote for "mechanic of the year". I must have missed the pictures or the video.
