Default Electra Standard or Street Glide

I am currently in Iraq and have the opportunity to buy a new HD. The problem I have is which one to get. I am limited to only pictures and really like the Street Glide and the Electra Standard (with radio add on). Any thoughts about these 2 bikes? Any and all opinions would be greatly welcomed.

FED, went thru the same thing. Got the EG. Put everything on it I wanted. I got back in Nov and picked up the bike 3 days later. What a blast.

On the HD site you can do a comparision. I'd have to say the standard is best bang for the buck, but street glide has some added features including the radio you have to add with the standard, along with appearence items like sloted wheels, blacked engine. So it's your personal prefferences. [8D]

well the EG has the biger back seat and is not as sporty as the street glide. i purchased the street glide and i am 42.
i had the engine worked on
replaced heads cnc ported, cylinder kits 103" with 10.5-1 pistons, 260 cam , SE air cleaner , SE race tuner, and Reinharts.
it is the hot rod i always wanted
either dicision will make you happy though
street glide is no longer on the way just picked it up yesterday

My thought was the EG Standard was the better buy. Basically the same bike for less $$$$$$. So that is why I have mine.
I didn't opt for the radio, defeats the reason I ride. Which is to get away from the commotion of everyday.
Good luck with your decision, you can't go wrong with either of 'em.

They EG is cheaper and it actually some of the chrome items the SG doesn't have- eg. fender trim & bumbers, saddlebag gaurds etc. But the SG has alot more chrome on the engine, the stereo, the lowered rear suspension and the overall cleaner look. I had to have the SG. No regrets here.

The street glide is the best bang for my money unless you like to polish aluminum. the street glide has chrome on the motor instead of polished aluminum. the chrome is easier to maintain. besides the cost of the radio is almost as the difference between the two bikes.

I love them both and the SG is one bad a$$ looking bagger, but for the money you cannot go wrong with the EGS. I love mine and have no regrets about buying it. You can add some personal bling and stereo as you desire and still have less $$$$ into it than the SG. Either one will put a great big SMILE on your face. Flip a coin if you cannot make the choice and go with that. Good Luck Bryan

I say get the Classic and puta detachable kit on the Tourpak! Then you get the best of both worlds betwen the SG and EG Std, for about the same price as the SG (a little lessbased on MSRP rates). If you plan on doing any long distance riding that's the way to go!

Kinda the direction I wished I had gone (they didn't have a SG when I bought my Standard). But, I love my bike regardless!
