I could be wrong but I think it all depends on the correct size wheel bearings and spacers to use with the 05 front axle. 08 and older would need a 16x3.5 rear wheel to be able to fit in the swing arm.

so for the 2005 electra glide
Road King, Electra Glide, Road Glide FLH, FLT 2004-2008
FRONT OEM Rim = 16x3
FRONT OEM TYRE =130/90-16
FRONT MAX Rim = 21x3.5
FRONT Max TYRE = 120/70-21

REAR OEM RIM = 16x3
REAR OEM TYRE = 140/85-16
REAR MAX Rim Size =18x4.25
REAR Max TYRE = 160/60-18

So looking at this, The front would fit on the 2005 FLHTx but the back wouldnt.

So in conclusion you don't need to have the back as it will not fit plus you don't really see it. However if yo take the front it will fit but you will need the spacer kit and new rotors.

 

You can use the front but will need bearings for your 05

 

Digging up an old thread. What's required to mount an Enforcer or an Airstrike front wheel? I understand a bearing swap, but what about an axle, or rotors?

 

I just put an 18" front off a 2013 SG on my 04 Road King. I used a new 25mm axle, the correct spacers for a 2013 SG, and left the 2013 Bearings in the wheel. Made is simple. I was told that swapping bearings would work but wasn't completely correct as there is a slight difference in width of the new bearings out would be installing and that would slightly offset things. It would work but it wouldn't be 100% correct as to a slight offset with the rotors in the caliper. This is just my 2 cents and the way I went about it.

 

I am pretty sure to use the 2014 front wheel you would have to use the Brembo calipers as the 05 rotors will not fit the 14 wheels

 

Front wheel will fit with axle and rotor change.

Rear wheel requires more work including fender change, belt change and a swing arm change

Max width for rear without swingatm change is 18 x 5.5. This will require, belt change, rear fender change and aftermarket wheel. Late model Stock harley rear wheel requires new swingarm.

A 18 x 4.25 aftermarket rear wheel will take a 180 tire but it does require some work to make it fit.

The 160 tire availability is suspect as load rating is incorrect and results in increased wear and decreased tire life (think 5 k miles max )

Wider rear on older frames requires thoughtful work otherwise its expensive

 

The rear won't work and the front can be done either way 25 mm or 1", I prefer using the 1" axle.
The air strike can be installed using the '08 up axle, nut, washer, bearings and outer spacers. Mount your '05 rotors.
Or use your 1" axle, 9247 1" bearings and trim your outer spacers to .780". Mount your '05 rotors. You must use the 25mm inner spacer that came with the wheel.
The Enforcer wheel can be done the same way, either or. The only difference being the rotors. The 2014 are 11.8" and you'll need the '08 up Brembo calipers. I have ran both wheels on my '02 with the 1" axle and no issues.
