Americade-One day 800 mile round trip worth it?
I'm considering doing a one day, 800 mile round trip to Americade and was wondering if the event is worth the ride? Never been to Americade before so if it's a great event I wouldn't mind taking the ride. It is a lot of miles if it sucks though.

I'm here now, no way I would make that trip for one day. If you're into Sturgis type stuff (***** and broads) this isn't it. Lots of bikes, souvenir shops, overpriced restaurants and old bikers (including yours truly) and bikettes. They have a nice area to buy stuff, one inside and another outside down by the Lake. Main reason I've been coming here for a bunch of years is the great riding roads in the area, we did 220 miles yesterday, some rain today but another 200 mile plus day tomorrow. Rain on Thursday, rest of the week supposed to be good. Good luck on your choice.

I live two hours away and I wouldn't make a return trip to that event. Went once a few years ago and I just didn't get it. Perhaps I'm spoiled because I can ride an awesome variety of roads in any direction a few months a year but there was nothing there that kept my interest and I was in and out in a couple hours. I guess I am not a group event guy.
800 miles. Man. I think you'd like the ride in but loathe that investment for this event. Just my .02.

It's only about a 300 mile round trip for me so I usually go a day each year. If I rode 400 miles one way for that show I'd be less than impressed. There is some great riding in the Adirondaks, but I can do that anytime and would rather make a road trip to Laconia than Americade. If you're passing through as part of a longer few day trip to ride wouldn't be a bad deal, but I wouldn't make a special trip for it in one day.

well....
I'm 50 miles away and I prob won't go this year....Many of the crowd are the fuzzy bear on your fender bikers. It's great riding in this area but 800 miles to get here??...nope. If you can stay for a couple of days and enjoy the lake...Yes. Some of the major vendors sponsor boat excursions with food..Thats a good deal.
