yes, but the CV carb is forgiving and easy to tune.

look for cv carb tuning tips and modding info.
just so you have an idea of what to look for if the bike seems to not run as well...
you will very likely experience a loss of power at low rpms, and pick up power at high rpms...so a little slower off the line.
no amount of carb tuning will fix this, it is the straight pipes
pulling some weight off the bike will help ( dump the tourpak, make detachable)

I did just what your doing on my 05 rk with carb. The nightrider.com link is what I used to to rejet my bike. The jets and needle at the dealer were under $20. But I did run the bike with the stock setting for 3 months or so and it was just a little lean. Also make sure you get new exhaust clamps and torque them down to the proper specs. The fishtails I am using are the BKrider.com ones. They do have baffles that cut down on the noise. That what I wanted.
