Headlight and Running Lights Went Out

Ok, things just got a little more weird....
So I tore the fairing apart to make sure there weren't any loose connections or pinched wires. Didn't see anything at all that jumped out at me.
Unplugged the light and the running lights were still dead. Was getting late so I said screw it, plugged the bike into the battery tender and went to bed.
Got up today and went back to work on it, plugged the head light back and and IT WORKED!
Took a 45 minute round trip into town and it worked the whole time.
Get home, pull in the driveway, turn the bike off, leave it sit for 5 minutes and go back to try and.... NO LIGHTS!
Something that I did notice was that my voltage gauge was reading between 14 and 15 volts. I'm not sure what it was before, because I've never paid that much attention to it.

Normally, I would say: high beam switch. Common problem. When mine went, the high beam would work, but the low beam and passing lamps wouldn't. All other lights on the bike worked fine too.
But that last post of yours makes it kind of weird. Guess it could be the high beam switch still. Contacts may be messed up inside it.

if you have 14
take it in for warranty service
if you have a 13 or earlier, the common part of the electrical system that would kill all your lights- like in the first post- is a fuse or relay ( many models have a fuse for the headlamp, and another fuse for the other lights.
there may also be a relay for all lights depending on year/model - this relay is mounted on the fuse block)
if you have voltage measured at the battery will a real voltmeter above 14.8 volts DC at any time, your voltage regulator is bad.
do not ride the bike until fixed or 12 volt rated parts on the bike will blow up = $$$$

Switches on my left grip went south on me. I don't remember what was not functioning, maybe turn signal. HD warranted out the repair, even before I purchased ESP. I suspect the cause may have been the pressure washer I was using.
Pressure washers are a no, no . . .
Generally when a circuit works, doesn't work, works some more the problem is in the switch, particularly if the problem is in the high beam / low beam option.
