Default Dealer add on charges, are these normal?

I was checking out the new bikes recently and kicking some tires, until I saw the price tag. On top of the msrp, were these charges. Document fee, setup fee, shipping fee, and ca. emission fee. These extra charges added up to $1100.00 on top of the msrp. Do you find that most dealers are adding on these extra fees? An inquiring mind wants to know....

Every one I've seen here add them but they are all negotiable.

Yes most dealers add them. But you don't have to pay them. Except maybe the CA emission one. I know CA bikes have a higher MSRP. Negotiate an out the door price. Dont worry how they structure the deal.

Been to many dealers in many states. All have their "set up" fees. Never paid them. Decide on an out the door price (tax, tag, and title included) and let them deal with the math and their fees.

Dealers play with the numbers. It has been my experience that you are going to pay right at MSRP. You might "buy" your bike at less than MSRP, but you have added fees. Depending on your state, this might not be all bad. As far as I am concerned, all that matters is the net number (and I refuse to call it OTD).

Never pay more than MSRP OTD (out the door).

The fees are standard, but get them to knock down the set-up fees.

There's no reason they shouldn't knock at least some of those off, especially if you are a repeat customer. That's just a way to ensure profit. I could see the shipping maybe, but the setup is minimal and does not justify the expense.

Have money in hand....and negotiate. If you trade in a vehicle, the dealer has already made a profit.
