Default 103 with Level B heads and cams

Does anyone have any experience with putting Fuel Moto Level B heads on a 103 with cams?

Sure a 107 kit and heads would be the best, but you can save a few pennies by sticking with the 103, and doing heads and cams.

When looking at the charts, there is a big difference between stock heads and Level B heads on the 107. I am thinking it's the same for the 103.

What do you think? And yes, I will call Fuel Moto tomorrow, or better yet, I will stop by and see them. Just wanted to see what other might think.

thanks

The 107 gets a good bump in compression too, so the results will not be as good.

I can't speak for the FM heads but doing head work to the factory heads made a huge performance improvement on my bike from 3000 to 62000 RPMs. Runs like a scalded ape.

I've got a 103" w/ 222 cams and I had Dragos bike works do my heads similar to FM. My valves were enlarged to the same size as FM's and the CR was bumped up to around 10.25 according to Frank Drago. I'm running the Drago Dragula 2-1 pipes. At least 3 very educated opinions stated I should end up close to 110 hp and upper teens torque. It sure feels like that from my ***. I'm going to get it dynoed soon to confirm. I did all of my own wrenching, so I only paid for parts. I'm not convinced that the extra money for the 107" will get you more than 3-4 hp and 3-4 ft. lbs. and I doubt you would feel that from your seat. Good luck with your build.

Thanks for the reply's. Keep them coming. The comment about raising CR was something I didn't think of originally. I would think that could be achieved with a thinner head gasket perhaps. I would do all the work myself, and If I could be north of 105hp, I would be happy, happy, happy. Well at least for awhile......

What exhaust do you have? It makes a big difference. With a 2-1 and a good tune I'd say you could hit 110TQ.

True duals will steal ponies and dont go very well with ported heads.

Be careful bumping the compression ratio. With the 255 cams I had a hard time controlling heat at idle. For a while I ran the AFR real rich at idle but eventually permanently solved the problem with a Wards Parts Werks fan setup. Works like a champ. Just know bumping the compression could result in heat management issues depending on the cams you choose. I mildly shaved the heads a few thousandths and put a thinner Cometic head gasket in.

True duals suck for performance.
