Upgrade from 96 to 103 on a 2008 Ultra Classic
#21
I think ya might be pretty happy with a cam swap (andrews 48) , an air cleaner (SE) and slip-ons (of choice), along with proper flash tuner (PV/TTS/SEPRT) and dyno tune. Save a big bore for if ya want to get "crazy"...

Harley 103" stage II has proven to be very reliable on our both 07 and 08 Ultra classics for last 100K miles combine better fuel mileage and adequate performance. For touring it's plenty of power to tackle any uphill or headwinds and that what was missing on stock 96". But you need ACR to reduce wear and tear on other equipment and an oil cooler will help with some heat issues. Try to negotiate for price though.
The 103" Stage II would definitely satisfy that. You might even be satisfied with 0ldhippie's advice one post up from this one since you are stock now.

Looks like another thread to follow. I have an 07 Roadking that is pretty stock. I have some slip ons, but nothing else. Been looking at trading it for a street glide for a few reasons, but think I have decided to keep it and build it. Ordered cruise control friday, have my 13" Prime Ape bagger bars waiting for cruise to get here to install. Next will be some type of tunes, maybe just the Harley bar speakers, maybe a full fairing. Next will be engine upgrades. Not sure what all I will want. Planned on just cams and exhaust. But if a 103" big bore is only another $700-$800 I might just go that route. Will the inches be that noticable???
