Default Shift linkage

I have a 12 street glide and at a stop light yesterday looked down and seemed like the rear bracket that the shift linkage rod connects to was vibrating a lot. Is this normal never noticed it before seems like a lot of play?

Tighten it down, Loctite is your friend. Go over your entire bike.

I meant all the bolts and nuts you can get to man. If the shaft is loose inside the primary something is wrong, its prolly the shifter arm loose, check that. If the shaft is loose take it in.

That shifter bracket attaches to the shifter pawl, which extends out from inside the transmission. If it stays loose you will strip the splines in the arm and maybe the pawl. Then you will need to pull the entire transmission apart to replace the pawl. If you leave it alone, it will strip and you won't be able to shift the bike leaving you stranded on the side of the road.

Ask me how I know........

Tighten that damn bolt down. Do a search on line, Baker and another company make upgraded replacement shifter arms that shouldn't strip.

They made a change in the design I believe 2007 to the back of the primary so there is room to replace the bracket without taking the primary apart. You should be able to reach the bolt with a socket wrench with an extension from the top. That's how I reached mine on my older bike.

You may have to disconnect the shift bar that connects to the forward shift linkage to get it out of the way for a ratchet extension.
