Default Did I Overfill???

Been noticing an oil leak coming from primary cover, been real mindful of it.

I took it for a good 3 hour ride and noticed that there was no oil on dipstick when it was hot. So i put in a quart. Went and checked the oil later that night when engine was cold. The oil is all the way to top full on diostick now.😱😱😱😱😱

Did i overfill?

There is no dipstick for the primary. You have to remove the derby or inspection cover to check/fill the primary. You either overfilled the crankcase or transmission (both have dipsticks). Figure out which one you overfilled and drain to correct level.

refer to your owners manual.

it is difficult for me to guess how familiar you are with your bike.

if you overfilled the motor oil, you may have gooping from your air cleaner, you may blow the dipstick out under hard acceleration...this paints the right side with oil

and the resulting white smoke from the oil on the mufflers will take care of any mosquitos

Yeah sorry about the confusion, the bike is leaking motor oil, seems to be leaking somewhere under the bike, when i come home from a ride it leaks on primary side.

I have not ruden bike yet, Should i take some oil out? i only checked motor oil when cold and its at the highest point if filled. not overfilled. but owners manual says its more accurate when warm.

you'll find a post from me on finding leaks.

2.) primary side because oil runs downhill...when parked on jiffy stand

3.) leak from lower tranny bolts is common

I understand what you mean now. As long the oil level is between the marks on dipstick when cold, you should be good too go. If it's filled to full mark when cold, it can possibly drip from the intake when ridden hard. I run mine halfway between the full/add marks and it does not drip from the intake. Keep an eye on level and just pour in a little at a time and check until you can get the leak fixed.

Main seal in primary. The one where the main shaft goes into tranny. Common leak area.

My guess would be the shifter seal. As mentioned very common.

I had an annoying leak dripping in the same location. It was the lower trans bolts where the exhaust mounts to. They were working themselves loose. Ended up having to remove exhaust and use blue locktite. Couldn't get at those bolts with the power duals. PITA but fixed the leak.
