Dropped my 99 once. In my garage so no one saw. Got home from work, pulled in at sat there for a few minutes listening to news story on the radio. When the news ended I shut off the ignition and got off the bike.... Just never put the jiffy stand down. Listening to the radio after I parked got me out of my routine...

I absolutely saw that thread! Each to his own. That's why the P&A catalog is so huge...... For me, part of the reason I buy some things is for function......

hmm. I actually put 'em ON for looks (and the added protection of course...). I do fear this though. But the RK is so much lower than my last FJR which was a tippy toe bitch and downright scary on less than ideal footing. I still get surprised though and it always tightens things up on a hurry.

Try and imagine the damage without the guards? It's an automatic insurance claim when you drop it without guards.

I didn't even accept delivery of my bike til the saddle bag guards were installed. No way. It just happens. And once that bike starts to go over, there's no stopping it. All you can try to do is ease the fall and just set it down.

Mine's gone over a couple times while stopped or at like 1 mph. Uneven road or slippery footing when you put your feet down will get you.

THOSE GUARDS HAVE A FUNCTION and they work very well.

I put the guards on mine a few months ago after reading similar post. I haven't needed them yet, but there will come a time when I will be glad they are there.

Welcome to the club! Now that you got the first dings out of the way, just ride the **** out of it. The front fender on my Ultra has a dent in it right now.
