Someone once said that if you are right handed you are also right legged. I'm right handed and right legged. Therefore, I use my right leg to get over the bike on the left (low) side. Of course, some people are ambidextrous. That's why they find it natural to mount on either the left or the right. I agree that bad knees and watching out for traffic is a factor.

Depends which side someone parked to close on. Low side out of habit normally though.

I'm a southpaw and I mount my steed from the low side ( Left ) but the funny thing is by mounting on the low side I have to kick my right leg over, go figure huh...

it depend what leg I'm limping on as I mount the beast the right side , left side or straight over the back it hard to tell.

Until I had my knee replacement, I always mounted from the low side. However, after the replacement I couldn't swing my right leg high enough to mount without scrapping the seat and saddlebags. Now I mount from high side, but I use a trick a motor cop taught me. I stand on the floorboard with my right foot and then swing my left leg over. Feels weird the first couple of times you do it, like you'll tip the bike over, but it works really well and you don't scrap the seat or saddle bags with your boot.

mostly the left hand side but the odd time i would get on from the right.
