Primary experiment??

So by next weekend you should be able to have the 1500 miles and report back? I know I have plenty of spare comp pieces laying around to try this out after my next new 2014 comp comes in. I'm having different results wit the hayden I just put in, much quieter and smoother shifting than the stock manual adjuster. I'm thinking mine is going to stay on for now.
Last question, was your 14 comp the "A" version?

Yes I did not glue in the plastic "funnel" thingy. Someone really needs to "show" me how it helps??
Adjustment is, grind out weld, reset and reweld. But really, I have a supply of stock tensioners to weld up if adjustment is needed. Seldom remember having to adjust old manual adjusters???
My "indy" has been been doing this compensator mod on a few (6-8) big motors (110+ hp) for a while with good results on small sample. He just started the welded tensioner mod. I'm the first with both.
Yes new compensator is latest and greatest A type.

Good luck with your experiment on this compensator noise problem. I have an '09 RG with 40k+ miles on it with the original compensator still in place. I think I have been using Redshift primary lube for the last 20 - 30K miles, don't know exactly because I don't keep very good records and I can't say for sure that it has made a difference. From what I have heard some compensators just last longer than others. I have an SE compensator on hand in case this one fails, but it is the old style. Since you all don't seem to be having any better luck with the A's I may well use it if and when the original gives up.
There was another thread called BDL Compensator that dochawken responded to on 05/14/14 that got a response from a new member called preacher365 who said he had a BDL compensator ruin his crankshaft because the "teeth broke and it spun on the crankshaft". I have asked him to send pictures to me at a personal e-mail since he only has 4 posts so he can't post pictures or send them by PM to my knowledge. I have a wait and see attitude on this because if the fit was correct and the installation was correct it is pretty difficult to destroy the teeth like this. I also have some reservation about someone suddenly appearing with this kind of problem that is a new member with only 4 posts and all of them were in that thread. Another member had someone running down his product this way and finally had to get his lawyer to contact them to cease and desist with the trolling. The main reason it bothers me is I am really considering using a BDL compensator so if there is something wrong with it I want to know and I know they have had problems in the past, but if the new revision is a good product I want to know that also. The problem they had in the past didn't have anything to do with teeth breaking. I'm still waiting for the pictures and if they show up I will post them on that thread.

I think quite a few of us are watching all the the comp related threads to try to see whats working and what brands are out there! Often I wonder if its the power of my engine or from not using Harley formula plus, but if that was the case we wouldn't see as many stock/stage one bikes having the same issues.
I'd like to see these as well.

I still haven't had any pictures show up in my e-mail. I am very suspicious of people who join the forum just to post on one certain thread. I imagine there are enthusiasts who are probably just reading without posting until they see something that triggers them to post, but I am also aware that there are trolls out there that will use a second computer to join under a different name just to bash a product. I just find the failure of the teeth to be out there and if I were BDL I would want that unit returned for testing to see what went wrong. If he had said it locked up I could find that more believable.
