Default coat hanger trick??

I was reading an old post dating back 5 years regarding techniques for snaking wires through the bars. He mentioned what he called a coat hanger trick but did not elaborate. Does anyone have knowledge of this? It would seem too stiff to adequately negotiate ape hangers with meat hooks. I am interested in any technique that will make my install easier. Thanks in advance...

Take some curtain cord. You know, the heavy string used to pull curtains open and shut.

Stick one end in the handlebar. Use an air compressor to blow it through to the other side. Tie on your cable, wire, or whatever to the end of the cord, and pull it through. It's one of those "Duh" moments when you realize how simple it is.

Or take fishing line and tie a piece of plastic to it. A piece from a shopping bag is fine. A size that would easily go through the bars. Use your shop vac on the other side to suck it through

So, here we are at the age old question. Is a suck better than a blow?
