Default Didn't know you could play MP3's with an iPod

I just picked up a 2007 SG and it already had the iPod
system with it in the right saddlebag. Unfortunately I don't
own a single iTune. Prefer to buy MP3's off Amazon.

I thought that if you used an iPod that you HAD to load
it with iTunes. Go figure! Now I see that I can put all my
MP3's on it as well. Guess it's iPod time.

To get around it, I actually had already ordered an
adapter cable off Amazon that would connect to the
iPod plug and then plug into the headphone jack of
anything else.

Amazon.com : Audio iPod iPhone input converter to regular MP3 plug - iPod Iphone Female End to 3.5mm Male plug cable : MP3 Players & Accessories Amazon.com : Audio iPod iPhone input converter to regular MP3 plug - iPod Iphone Female End to 3.5mm Male plug cable : MP3 Players & Accessories

Here's a couple of pics of the iPod set up on my bike:

Thanks for all the replies, very helpful.

i've mentioned before, so i'll throw it out there again. if you use an ipod, you don't have to use itunes. there are a couple of programs that will completely bypass itunes and you can manage your music, and even upload to your ipod.

the one that i am familiar with is media monkey. it's also free. though they do have a paid version and a subscription version as well. but the free version works just fine.

You can use iTunes to organize your music, and synch all of your personal mp3 files onto your iPod. No restrictions. You're golden!

We're making rookie mistakes here!

All you do is uninstall iTunes from the computer. Once that's done, you connect the iPod and the computer will see the device as an external hard drive. Now, copy the entire contents of the iPod into a folder on the machine. Once that's done, re-install iTunes, and import all of the music from the folder that you created. Synch.

I like everything you said right up to the point where you're putting that money grabbing, save the world, POS, itunes program back on.

I gave a 8gb iPod that my wife had to have and never used it. That plays music through the rad modulator. Not great but works for me.

When I get some more cash, I will go the Bluetooth setup mod from Iron Cross.

Apple SUX --

Samsung is beating Apple to death in the MP3 market, in phones, tablets, etc. Samsung is leading the pack in TV tech and media tech generally.
So allow me to weigh in....iTunes can manage all of your music. I have about 250g/38000+ tracks that 99% of which were not bought from iTunes but from my personal library. But, on PC it is not the best tool to manage a large library, there are a few others that I've used that work better. However, because we recently transferred all of the daily use data, including multimedia to my wife's Mac, iTunes seems to be the current choice as my time has been limited with experimenting with other media management software on that platform.

I used a gen 3 ipod touch with a mikes stainless creations holder that mounts to the handlebar control and an isimple cord that charges the ipod and puts the music to the aux port.

That was before I changed the audio system to an Alpine with front USB and got a mini USB drive to store the music
