Apple sux. Apple thinks it owns your device and your music. You can't turn it on without logging into the Apple Store. iTunes won't store and manage YOUR music. iTunes only manages, and stores music bought from the Apple Store.

Apple wouldn't let me transfer my 3,500 tunes of MY MUSIC (NOT iTunes Store) from my old laptop to my new laptop.

Apple SUX --

Samsung is beating Apple to death in the MP3 market, in phones, tablets, etc. Samsung is leading the pack in TV tech and media tech generally.

Really, I don't know where you got this information.

I've been a Mac user since 1987 - long before iTunes or the Apple Store.

I've never bought a single song from the iTunes Music Store - not ONE. I don't even have an account at iTunes.

BUT -- I can use iTunes to manage and play about 70gb (yes, GIGABYTES) of music, all in mp3 format. That includes "found music" and "paid for" mp3's, such as those purchased from amazon.com.

If it ain't workin' for you, you're doing something wrong.

BTW, I've never owned an iPod, or iPhone.
I -do- have a Samsung Galaxy player, however.

Why bother? A simple bluetooth adapter and stream music from your phone. no wires no discs, and if you have Nav on your phone it pulls the music down and comes over the speakers. At least mine does.

I use an iPod Nano as well vectors to the dashboard with assorted playlists that I select before taking off. It would be nicer to have the interface so you can control it with your radio switches but that is an investment down the road. I would rather save the battery on my phone and recharge the iPod as needed.

Almost completely false.

I've got more than 25,000 tracks in my iTunes collection, and very little of it was purchased from Apple . . . less than 50 tracks. I've aquired it from all sorts of sources. I have no problems managing my library. I've had 3 laptops in the last 8 years, and my collection has been very easy to move from one machine to another.

I'm a Samsung fan, too, and I'm not an Apple fanboy, but there isn't a product that beats the regular old iPod with regards to music portability.

Cheap & simple: Ipod shuffle stuck to the clutch mount with a Velcro patch, 3.5mm cable from it to stereo aux in socket. I can reach the controls with my forefinger without letting go the bars, and the battery lasts for many, many hours. They're cheap enough to not worry about too much, and hold enough music for about 20 hours. Only Ipod with mechanical switches, so gloves not an issue.

If I need satnav, then I use my Iphone for tunes as well with a RAM mount, a waterproof case and a charging cable.

I use a Generation 2 Ipod that I've had for years. On my current bike, I have a Sony head unit & Ipod goes inside it. Previously, I used a RAM Mount on the handlebar, with a 12" cord from Radio Shack, to go into the HK head unit. I have a pair of gloves that still allows me to touch the screen & change things, but not all gloves do that. You can find thin enough ones that will.

I use a iPod Gen 3 Nano in saddlebag very reasonable price on ebay. Controlled via USB through my Alpine HU.

This is what I use, never have to mess with anything, stays in the stereo and I can listen to hundreds of songs, switch to the radio, and still use my stock handlebar controls, I can even adjust the equalizer settings on the fly with the handlecar controls.

yea I'm with you on this. If you plug in a device to a computer with iTunes on it, it will immediately attempt to destroy the music library on the device before it will sync to it.

To the OP, Just get an aux cable and plug in what ever you have to the aux port, too easy.

Personally, I put the XM module on my Harmon Kardon. So I never plug in my phone. If I want to listen to my own music I use headphones, I usually do this on long road trips, better for the hearing. Use a good pair of sound blocking ear buds, cuts the wind noise and you can play the music at low volume.
