Default Road King vs Road Glide

Question. Considering trading my Glide for a CVO King.

Pros? Cons?

My biggest concern is the lack of radio - thinking my wife may not be real pleased.

Is there really a major difference in the ride?

Thanks!

Might as well get a solo seat with it.

You can add music to anything. Headsets ??

Road Kings are the best bike ever, it is simply no contest except in funky looks department !! I am biased though.

Ride should be even a little bit better as the King has longer rear shocks (will ride 1" higher though. Believe the front tire is also a higher profile that might provide a better ride too.

Wife will get better wind protection on freeways, as the shark nose tends to wrap around the rider and hit the passenger.

Can she really hear the radio well back there, maybe a personal iPhone/iPod or such could provide her with even better music.

CVO's have all the bells and whistles. Good lookin too.

I traded my Ultra Limited for a Road King Classic, best move I ever made. My wife actually likes the back rest over the tour pack. She said she felt too confined and closed in with the tour pack. Anyway, that's my story.

All good advice - thanks!

I heard a lot of folks talk about how good the Glide was. I traded a Street Glide for my Road Glide and YES the ride was that much better!! I was really surprised.

I know we are all different, but I now hear from some on this board as well as others locally that I will get the same "wow" factor going to a King....

Any Road Glide converts out there can confirm this?

i have had both. i did like the look of the king for sure but it lacked the tunes and the ride on the RG is much better due to the fairing being fixed and wider. each to his own, but i would pick RG again. although now i am on a SGS and I dig that too. Life is good.

I did have a Tour Glide, the forerunner of the Road Glide and it was great, I loved the funky looks and slightly improved stability in wind, but I just LOVE the friggin Kings. Started out on HD's with a 1974 FLH Police SPecial with the big aluminum nacelle with both batwing and regular shield and have tried others but always return to the KING !!!

If I were to buy a new bike it would be hard to not get another King.

The '13 CVOs had radios. Maybe look for a leftover. Otherwise tunes can be added on the '14 using the same style of setup as the '13s.
