i have a 2000 road king classic, and i can not get the front fork to hold air for any longer than a day. any body got any suggestions on what to check? or should i even worry about it at all? i mean it is only supposed to have 15 psi in it anyway, is it a big deal?
I don't believe running at 0psi will bother anything, you'll just bottom out hits will be harder. Looking at my 01 factory manual, which I suggest you order at your local Harley shop, there are a lot of fittings that could be leaking. I'd pump it up to the max of 25psi and snoop around those connectiona with a squeeze bottle of soapy water. I'm riding solo with 8 front 5 rear.
Air it up. squirt soapy water around fork seals and see if bubbles appear.
do same with the air nipples.
If not there check the line fittings, hosesand the fork caps, there are o-ring sealed.
Change the fork oil out to the SE Heavy and you will no longer need any air. If you don't know, you can change it on your bike in about 15 minutes using a shop vac and a couple of pieces of hose.
