Default New Seat or Mean City Cycle????

I have a Badlander seat on my RG. I like the look but it has to be a hemorrhoids worse nightmare!![:@] I get butt bite within the first 50 miles. I also have the stock seat that I use for two up riding and at this point would also use it for long trips. The Badlander is for blasting around town and short trips....but I love to ride so those little trips end up being a little longer.

So here is my question, do I keep the seat and send it to Mean City Cycle for a memory foam implant or buy a new low profile seat that is more comfortable? The seat is new and I think I paid $140 and can probably get close to that on e-bay. The memory foam job is $90 plus shipping so I will have a total of around $240 in the seat when it is done. Is there a better option in a new seat around the same money? Anybody have the memory foam implant from Mean City Cycle? How do you like it?

I appreciate the feedback,
RJ

I had a Sundowner that raised me higher than I wanted to be. Had Mean City do the mod and replace with the memory foam. Both myself and passengers find it to be much more comfortable.

I had Allen rework my stock FLHX seat, I wanted to change it to leather but ran into some cost issues (I had some leather and needed more but I did not have the extra $ so i will be doing this at a later date). Anyway Allen reworked my seat with the memory foam and I told him I liked the seat a little firm and he worked his magic and man it it is nice. I just did 1500ml in 3 days and no PIA!!! I have problems with my tail bone and with the seat mods there where no problems or discomfort!

get both, a nice solo seat and when you have that one, send the original to get modified into a cushy touring seat. No time wasted not riding

Sounds like the cost of the mods are reasonable. Probably your best option.

I like the seats made by C&C in SoCal. Their standard seats are reasonalbe and custom. With the sale of your Harley seat I think you may be looking at close to the same $$. http://www.harleyseats.net/index.htm
