Dresser Duals Headers VS Stock Headers without Catalytic Converter
Trying to figure out which way to go here. I have V&H fishtail slip ons now and I just ordered the V&H fuelpak fp3 and a Vo2 air intake. What will V&H dresser duals do for me over a set of stock headers with out a catalytic converter? The dresser duals are obviously more money by a few hundred dollar than buying a set of used stock headers that has the catalytic converter removed. Are the duals worth the extra $$$$$$$ and why?

some guys like the sound of "duals" better.
there are performance trade offs.
for a stock or mildly modified motor, I would get a decatted stock header.
with that, your costs are lower and you are more likely to have better power in the lower end of the rpm range. Good for getting away from lights, city traffic and canyons

To me, it still sounds like stock pipes with a slip on when u decat----what did I gain by going true duals---a rumble that is so sweet everytime I upshift and everytime I downshift ...and everyone asking how I got that rumble. What did I lose...well folks say HP....but I don't care---my butt can't feel the loss. I know some are HP crazed and fight for every single increase they can get, but my BMW has 400 HP and 450 ft-lb torque-----I don't care about the HP---it's the torque that makes me smile---GIVE ME TORQUE

Ive read theres some cross talk issues with a stock decatted headpipe due to that big open chamber area where the cat once was. I know when I tried this route I had nothing but pop and backfire issues.
I would suggest checking out Fullsac's B X pipe. Its a stock head pipe converted to an X pipe and its realtively inexpensive. You can send him your pipe and have it done or just get one he has and send yours for the discounted price. I just did that and got the recored muffles and couldnt be happier.

I didnt have any cross talk issues when I ran the gutted header so dont buy into that BS. I lost some low end torque by going to the VHDDs and had to tune more fuel into the equation to get it back. I would go with the power duals or a header that allows scavenging between both jugs. It does sound awesome but to me not worth the minor but noticeable torque loss.

if the focus has changed to "sound", sound is very subjective.
you should go hear other bikes at a bike night, dealer BBQ type event.
see what you like
consider your needs, do you like the radio, do you tour...loud pipes are no fun 3 hours into an 8 hour day
some of the guys here are on their 3rd or 4th exhaust set- and have spent thousands of dollars on exhaust.
make the first purchase the correct one for you.
