Apes vs OEM handlebars?

No but I also haven't stabbed myself in the eye either to see how that feels, LOL When I am riding with bars on this bike that are absolutely super comfortable, why would I switch on this bike? I have owned and ridden many other bikes with so many different bars. The worst? Drag bars, not even close they are so bad. Low bars, beach bars, buckhorns, baby apes , shoulder level, above shoulder , etc. This bike with these bars are a PERFECT fit for me.

I know I am in the overwhelming minority, but I don't believe that ape hangers of a particular height is the cure for uncomfortable handlebars on a bagger. About 10 years ago I had a Road King and decided to try the Chubbys 508's. Low rise (6"), not wide (32") and a lot of pull back (15 1/2") bringing my hands close so that my upper arms almost hung straight down. It turned out to be the most comfortable ride I had ever experienced. I put the same type bars on a subsequent Road Glide. Now I have a Street Glide and I had to get BR's Bars to bend me a similar set, but it was worth every penny. Bottom line is you just might want to at least consider thinking out of the ape hanger box. That's just my 2 cents.

6'1" 34" inseam. HD Brawler Solo on it now, puts me back and down. Didn't really affect my bar comfort, good or bad, but the seat helped reduce my helmet buffeting a TON.

For me apes are more comfortable.
Everyone has a sweet spot for where they are most comfortable.
Here is how to know where your handlebars should be for max comfort.
Sit on your bike
Have someone hold it up straight for you
Put your feet on the pegs
Close your eyes
Put your hands out to where it is most comfortable to hold them
Open your eyes...where ever your hands are, that is where you want the handlebar grips to be.

I lived with the stock bars on my 09 street glide for 6 years. I kept sayin i was going to change them but never did.
I am 6'4" with a 34" inseam
Then i bought a new bike and installed the 13" cyclesmiths. If i knew them what i know now i would never had lived with those original bars on my '09 for all these years.
These new bars are so comfortable. Best mod i have made for comfort so far.
