Default Bar Swap..

This weekend I'm about to switch out my stock bars ( '08 RKC ) to Wildone 515 which are 10'' mini apes, it will be my very first time doing this. I have purchased what I think is required to complete the work, Magnum chromiteII brake cable +4, Namz 8" wire extensions for the switches and tbw, Wildone firm bushing kit. I have read other post on here from members performing the bar swap and had watched Youtube videos. My question is after the stock black sheath has been removed to expose and extend the wires what are you guys using to cover and protect them prior to inserting them inside the new bars. Thanks and yes I'm am apprehensive and somewhat questioning myself if I'm in over my head on this.

I just did bars for the first time myself. I carefully cut the sheath and left about 4 inches of it on the switch end. The sheath seems fairly tough and figured it would protect the wires where they go through the hole in the bars. Those few inches of sheath covered wire are a little harder to get in the hole, but it went fine with some wire lubricant and some patience. Follow your manual for removing the bars and torqueing the clamp on the new bars. Stay patient, take your time and walk away for awhile if you get upset. There are people here that can give advice if you run into a problem.

Oh ya, and you might as well grease and check your steering head fall away while you have it apart. There's a good video on this at the Glide Pro web site.

after cutting and leaving 4 inches of the black sheath the remaining wires are loose with only their individual color coated plastic for protection?

Pretty sure I used 3/8...its the type that the more you pull on it the tighter it gets.

Did you heat shrink the ends of the loom to provide additional strength as you pulled.
