I know lots of private businesses that do not accept check... after watching several bounce and chasing down the owner unsuccessfully, many have just stopped the practice. Cash is King!

As far as the OP and his receipt. I see no issues with what the OP posted.. looks like a detailed receipt to me. to the OP: get over it, get on the bike and ride ... life is short, enjoy it.

 

There is something about this "new mechanic to you" that does not pass the smell test. I guess the right question to ask would be that given your current dealings with him, would you have any future dealings with him?

If it was me, I would be looking for a new guy, one who took a more businesslike approach to invoicing and quotes.
Hopefully you won't get the short end of the stick on this transaction.
