Recommendation for a exhaust leak / quality black finish on exhaust?
I have the RB Racing LSR 2-1 exhaust with a black finish and it simply is a terrible finish. It started rusting within a year. I should have known when it was shipped with some high temp BBQ or header paint. I've been touching it up every few months with the header paint, but I want to get this done right with a quality black finish.
Do you have any recommendations on a place that I could take the exhaust to get a durable finish? I've done high temp powder before on the shields and had some problems with it as well. Are black pipes just bound to look terrible after some usage?
Also, the RB Racing LSR 2-1 uses slip joints without any clamps to connect the headers to the muffler. I can feel a good amount of exhaust escaping at this joint. I have tried to use some exhaust sealant / gasket maker, but that did not work either. Any suggestions to fix the leak at the joint? I'd like to consider getting it welded permanently at the joint, but I am not sure I would be able to get the pipe on and off the head with a fixed joint.
