Exclamation 08 FLHT w/ ABS Front brake doesn't work-Lever feels Seized

So basically the front brake doesn't work and it has ABS. WE have tried the following- There is brake fluid in the lines and in the master cylinder. The front calipers are not seized. We have tried to bleed the lines but the brake handle is so stiff that I can not physically pull it to close. Brake fluid does trickle out some however. The abs light flashes when I start the bike and goes away after driving it for a few seconds. We have no clue what this can be. We through process of elimination have narrowed it down to the following- The front master brake cylinder-perhaps a valve is stuck inside it preventing it from opening/closing. Or is it maybe the ABS module. Any input and help is truly appreciated. Thank you guys

You may need to take it to the dealer and have it put on the digitech to have them cycle the module. Sounds like you have air in the ABS module. The ABS light usually won't go out if the module is functioning though?

Somebody might have put the wrong brake fluid in it causing the seals in the master cyl. to swell. But there's all kinds of stuff that could cause that.

Based on your description, I'm going with mater cylinder. If it was down stream of the master cylinder you would think there would be some give in the lever. If the lever feels solid then I would check the master cylinder first.

Plus the ABS light is functioning properly, probably not the ABS.

Sound like the ABS module, I don't think the abs light will show a stuck valve in the module. Think about it , how would the a stuck valve show up on a self check? I think the light only comes on if the electronics are not functioning as they should, after performing a self check.

I'm not sure how the self test works, I figured it operated the the valves as part of the test. If a valve was stuck in the ABS unit not allowing the lever to move, would it not be holding pressure on the caliper?

either way, if the lever feels solid I suspect master cylinder.

It runs the self test after moving, I don't see how it could check the valve. Maybe it can but...........

I,m still going with m/c. If the OP removes or just loosens the banjo bolt on the m/c and the lever can move then I'd move onto the ABS. If with the bajo loose the lever still dose not move I'd be rebuilding the m/c.

When it comes to the ABS system, I'd let the dealership check it out. Please let us know what the issue was.
