Default New saddlebag gaskets, which way bevel?

Trying to get these thing on, there is a bevel and I have zero idea which way it should face. My gut says the flat side should touch the outer edge of the lid, but ya never know. I haven't been able to find any info online.

My gut agrees with your gut, but no solid guidance. Can you tell from looking at the old gasket?

Negative. It's 13 years old and pretty well smooshed. Even after removing it I can't tell at all.

If I understand you right, the flat side should be against the lid, the beveled sid will fit the bag when you close it. Doesnt it have sticky tape on the flat side?

Yes, that part I get, LOL. There are 3 flat sides, and one angled side. With the sticky side against the lid, I can still place the beveled edge either to the inside or outside of the lid. That is what I'm trying to figure out.

The book shows it as a square seal. But i would install it beveled from low to high with the high to the outside edge. That way youll have a better exterior seal
