SERT V. PC III

SERT V. PC III
Just recently traded up from an 06 RKC to a 07 RKC after much deliberation (and very happy with my decision)................ although there is quite a bit of heat coming eminating from the bike.
Have changed mufflers butwill only change air filter when I purchase a ECM.
The problem is I cannot decide which one to buy - the SERT or the PC III.

SERT is only as good as the guy who sets it up on the dyno, to try and use the canned maps is a waste of time. A SERT with dyno tune will run you 700-800.00. A PCIII with a custom map from jamie at fuelmoto will cost you 289.00 and it is much easier to set it up ans can also be tuned by a dyno tech if you want. You will have a slight, 2-3 second delay start with the PCIII, none with SERT.

I agree with THABULL that PCIII offers simplicity BUThave increasingly come to appreciate what the SERT and a laptop allow me to do.After facing a few frustrations (correct com port and serial to usb adaptors)a Basic Tuning Program (Cal 270CC015) that best matched the modifications on my RKCI was loaded.Next, detailed fuel table adjustments were easily added to eliminate the slightest signs of detonation.
Manyof the features, graphs, etc.are still way beyond me but knowing that the SERT has program limits in place to prevent engine damage encourages further personaldiscovery. Like a raincoat or an umbrella, the PCIII or SERT can get the same job done very well. With the SERT I feellike I have a greater sense of what is going on with my bike.
Hope my .02 helps you!

I live near Milwaukee, about 1hr 45min from Jamie@ Fuel Moto in Neenah, WI. I made an appointment with Jamie to install PCIII, Rush 1.75" slip-ons, and K&N air cleaner on my new EG Classic. Having the work done by THE MAN himself!! And what better excuse to take a Saturday 4-hour round trip with some HD dealer stops on the way? He's charging me about $110 total labor. Then he asked, "you want a dyno with that?" Um, no thanks. I'm sure your maps are fine. Somewhere around $950 total installed with tax. I can't wait!
Call Jamie. He personally answers the phone and he's super helpful.

The PCIII can be tuned in the exact same way, all fuel tables and timing is adjustable as well as each cyl if you want. IOt also can never be leaned below your stock ecm settings.

You can enter negative values to any block to decrease fuel below the stock ECM value, or have I been misinterpreting this? I have several blocks from the Fuel Moto map that have negative values.

The PCIII runs off the settings in your ECM, stock or stage 1 this is the starting point(base map) the PCIII settings add to this base, so as I understand it you can not dial the PCIII below the current settings in your stock ECM. Least that is how I understand it.

Either way I am running the map Jamie loaded for me with miner additions to reduce decel popping and the bike runs great!
I am very satisfied with my PCIII.
Ride Safe,
